Seven persons have been killed in a lone accident at Ayekale village on the Bode-Saadu-Ilorin Expressway in the Moro Local Government Area of Kwara State.
The crash, which occurred on Tuesday, involved a Toyota Bumper, with number plate, ZAR600XY.
PUNCH Metro gathered that among the 19 occupants of the vehicle (all males), 12 sustained varying degrees of injury, while a total of seven people lost their lives.
The Kwara State Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps, Jonathan Owoade, who confirmed the incident, said no first aid treatment was available to the victims of the crash, which happened around 4am.
Owoade said the lone accident was caused by speeding.
He said, “My admonition is that motorists should desist from night journeys, and even passengers, because fatigue can easily set in while driving at night. Besides, nobody will want to offer assistance at night in case of an emergency.”
Owoade noted that men of the Bode Saadu Police Station took the injured victims to nearby hospitals for treatment, adding that FRSC officials took the deceased to the University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital mortuary.
The FRSC boos said the personal items recovered from the victims were kept with the police. ,,
