Police rescue mother, daughter from kidnappers den

The police in Adamawa have rescued a woman and her daughter, who were reportedly abducted by bandits who raided a police station at Ngurore, Yola South Local government area of Adamawa.

The Punch had reported the abduction of the woman and her daughter, whose home is near the Ngurore police station, by their abductors who also attacked the police station.

The yet to be identified gunmen after a gun duel with the police took abducted Hauwa and her daughter from their house.

The attack on the police station, it was later gathered had been to repel the police from interrupting the operations of the criminal gang who had wanted to abduct Umaru of Nasarawo B, a renowned businessman in the area.

But the attackers, instead got away with his wife and daughter because the man was not at home on the day of the invasion.

It has been gathered from the police in the state that both the mother and her daughter have been successfully freed from their abductors.

The spokesman of the Adamawa state police command, DSP Suleiman Nguroje, said that Hauwa Umaru and her daughter were rescued by the police unharmed.

He said, ” The abducted mother and daughter have escaped from captivity, they were rescued by the police unharmed”.

He said that anti- kidnap operatives from the force with the help of members of vigilantes located the whereabouts of the criminals and went to their den, adding that the kidnappers were forced to abandon their victims and escaped when they saw the police.
