Edo State Government on Tuesday said the state has recorded four new deaths with three out of the four deaths unvaccinated and the other one partially vaccinated.
The state COVID-19 Case management lead, Osagie Ebonmwonyi, disclosed this after the daily virtual meeting of the State COVID-19 Taskforce, chaired by the State Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki.
Ebonmwonyi urged residents to embrace COVID-19 vaccination to reduce the rise in the number of infections and deaths in the state.
He added that deaths arising from the pandemic are mostly preventable if people go for vaccination and obey NCDC guidelines and safety protocols.
Ebonmwonyi said Edo State Government has intensified the vaccination of citizens across the state’s 18 local government areas with the provision of mobile medical teams who move around to ensure vaccination of all.
He called on all residents to be vaccinated to stay alive and healthy noting that more unvaccinated persons continue to die from the virus.
“Edo state has witnessed in the past 24 hours four new deaths, three new recoveries and discharge with 14 news cases detected. Three out of the four deaths were unvaccinated, one partially vaccinated,” he said.
“Deaths from Covid-19 are mostly preventable if we get vaccinated. We have a lot of mobile teams who move around to ensure vaccination of all,” he added.
