Montreal police have turned to the public in an effort to locate a suspect in connection with an attempted murder in Old Montreal last August.

Police say that on Aug. 8 around 4 a.m., a call was made to the 911 emergency centre reporting a person injured at a hotel near de la Commune and Saint-Gabriel Sts. The victim, an 18-year-old man, had suffered a gunshot wound.

Surveillance camera images allowed investigators to determine that a dispute between the victim and at least one suspect triggered the murder attempt.

The suspect is in his mid-20s, stands 5-feet-9-inches tall and weighs about 180 pounds.

At the time of the shooting, the suspect had a dark beard and was wearing a long gold chain. He was wearing a black sweater, a black hooded jacket and black pants.

Anyone with any information on the suspect is urged to call 514-280-0399 or Info-Crime Montreal at 514-393-1133. All calls we be treated confidentially.
