Adamawa police arrest fake corps member

The  police in Adamawa State have paraded a suspected fake member of the National Youth Service Corps, Dada Ayomilekan.

The suspect was arrested by operatives attached to the State Intelligence Bureau, Adamawa State Police Command.

PUNCH Metro learnt that a forged HND certificate and a fake identification card, among other documents, were recovered from the suspect.

A spokesman for the police in the state, DSP Suleiman Nguroje, in a statement on Tuesday, said the arrest came from surveillance targeted at criminals and bad elements in the state.

He said Ayomilekan was arrested on the premises of the NYSC orientation camp, adding that a fake NYSC ID card and a forged polytechnic certificate were recovered from him.

According to the police, the suspect is a resident of Hokolul Street, Oyun Tipper Garage, Ilorin, Kwara State, who claimed to have graduated from the Plateau State Polytechnic with a lower credit grade and seeking participation in the mandatory one year NYSC scheme before his arrest on September 6, 2021.

“The Commissioner of Police, Aliyu Alhaji, has vowed to go tough on impostors, and also charged operatives attached to the SIB, CP’s Monitoring Unit, and the Public Complaints Bureau to  go after and fish out persons with questionable identities to checkmate their criminal activities in and around the NYSC camp,” the statement added.    ,,
